Oregon
A beautiful state. Blessed to have my cousin Rein host some trips to the Oregon coast.
Bubble guy at the circle in Seaside.
The Seaside beach is so deep and wide.
The sea mist obscures the point.
This lighthouse on an island is hard to view from the Seaside beach. I had to get up early to get a picture before the winds whipped up the sea mist and obscured it.
That's a jellyfish.
The tiny sign along the promenade directs you to the Salt Works. The site where Lewis & Clark's people stopped to make salt is preserved.
The Salt Works is nestled between modern houses just off the promenade.
The Promenade is 1 1/2 miles long and makes for a lovely stroll. Benches along the way are dedicated in memory of loved ones.
This statue is in the museum at the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, Astoria
This describes the Salt Works.
Lovely statue honoring Sacajawea.
The wreck of the Peter Iredale is fading faster now.
These two shots were during low tide in 2019.
Fort Stevens State Park is near Shipwreck Beach. Neat little museum too.
Fort Clasop. Built by Lewis & Clark to protect them over the winter from the bears and elements.
At the Maritime Museum in Astoria. At first I thought... "Oh no, here we go." but boy was I wrong. Great place to visit.
The Astoria Bridge over the Columbia River to the state of Washington.
The Bow Picker Eatery across from the Maritime Museum. Customers are always lined up for their great fish and chips meals.
View backwards of the Astoria Column from the Astoria Bridge.
My cousin waving from the top.
The Astoria column. If you are brave and tough enough to climb the 125 feet inside the claustrophobic spiral stairs, you can get a great view.
The outside of the column is painted with historical dates and stylized images.
The view from the base of the column. No, I didn't climb it. LOL
These images are from Cape Meares.
Yes, that is a hole right through the sea stack.
The Cape Meares lighthouse is set down on the coast. As you walk down to it, the red lens is visible at eye level. Then you can walk down and around to get to the base.
